The first settler to arrive at what is now known as Potomac was Edward Offutt in 1714. Because it was so close to the Tehogee Indian Trail, the territory soon came to be known as Offutt's Crossroads. Nowadays, Potomac has grown to be a prosperous suburb of Maryland, and it still maintains some of the beautiful countrysides that made it so attractive to the people of Washington after the Civil War ended.
As an extra tidbit, the creator of Beverly Hills, 90210 based the show on his experiences at Winston Churchill High School right here in Potomac, and he was even going to call the show Potomac 20854 before it was decided to move the show to California.
